Climate Leaders Coalition – Businesses taking action

September 25, 2020

The Climate Leaders Coalition was launched to promote business leadership and collective action on the issue of climate change.  On a mission to reduce emissions in Aotearoa New Zealand, 105 Chief Executives have so far signed the original joint statement, which commits their organisations to take voluntary action on climate change.

The Coalition has recently released its 2020-2025 strategy, which can be found here.

The Coalition’s goal is to help New Zealand transition to a low emissions economy and, in doing so, create a positive future for New Zealanders, business, and the economy.  The Coalition also represents a unique opportunity for businesses to work together and learn from each other to reduce their emissions.  Organisations from all sectors of the economy are represented in the Coalition and together the signatories make up 60% of New Zealand’s gross emissions.

The Coalition demonstrates the significant leadership direction being taken by businesses on the issue of climate change. Now, the CEOs involved are calling for other leaders to join them.
